There are two kind of the Prielbrusya National Park permit:
a) Elbrus climb permit,
b) A valley entry permit.

a) If you are going to climb Elbrus you need to have Elbrus climb permit. Cost is 20US$ (in 2005). This permit is the valley entry permit as well. So, if you plan to visit different valleys as well as climb Elbrus better to obtain this one permit covering both National Park permits. The National Park office is situated at Elbrus town.

b) If you plan to visit a particular valley(s) and are not going to climb Elbrus it is better if you obtain the Valley entry permit. Cost is about 1,5US$ per person. This permit is necessary to entry popular destination like Adylsu Valley, Irik Valley, Adyrsu Valley. To obtain this kind of permit it is not necessary going to the National Park office. There are National Park inspectors at every valley (requiring permits) and they will find you asking to purchase the permit.

Note: If you have paid just for the Valley Entry permits and after that decide to climb Elbrus you have to buy Elbrus climb permit in additional.
