Trekking The possibilities for trekking in the valleys and over the passes of the
Caucasus are vast. The number of huts in the mountains however is very small
and any long distance trekkers must carry camping equipment and food for their
trip as well as crampons, ropes and ice axes (or walking poles) as many
glaciated passes are encountered. The passes ultimately limit the trekker and
their grading is essential to know when planning a trip. On this site we have
only selected a few more popular areas showing a map extract and a brief
description of the passes in the area. Maps This map is reproduced from Mount Elbruz Region (map and 60 page guidebook) courtesy of EWP, the Geographic Bureau and West Col Productions. Purchase Online |
